The Geological Society of Thailand traces its roots back to 1967 when it was established by Mr. Vija Sethaput, the Director General of the Department of Mineral Resources, along with senior officials from the Department of Mineral Development. The society was founded with the goal of creating a platform for geologists in Thailand to exchange knowledge, share opinions, and engage in various activities. The inaugural meeting took place on July 5, 1967, at the Department of Mineral Resources. Since then, the society has grown into a prominent organization, fostering collaboration and advancing geological research and education throughout Thailand.
The Geological Society of Thailand is a dedicated team of geologists, researchers, and professionals united by their passion for understanding and exploring the Earth’s geological processes and history. Their mission is to advance the field of geology in Thailand through research, education, and public outreach. With their expertise and collaborative spirit, they strive to promote sustainable development, geological conservation, and hazard mitigation in the region. Together, they work towards uncovering the secrets of Thailand’s geological past and using that knowledge to shape a better future for the country and its people.
